The start-up, incubated at I3P and winner of numerous awards, was recognised for its innovative rare earth recycling project, contributing to European sustainability and self-sufficiency

RarEarth, a young innovative enterprise incubated at I3P, was recently honoured at the Quirinale Palace during the Eni Award 2024 ceremony. In the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eni, Giuseppe Zafarana, and the CEO of Eni, Claudio Descalzi, RarEarth received the Special Mention ‘Eni Joule for Entrepreneurship’. The prestigious award is given to start-ups that stand out for the innovativeness and sustainability of their projects, which are central elements in tackling global challenges related to energy and the environment.

RarEarth has made a name for itself through its commitment to the sustainable management of rare earths, crucial resources for modern technologies and the ecological transition. Starting from the Startcup Lombardia experience, the company has already won numerous awards, including victory at the Cleantech&Energy 2023 Prize and special mentions at the National Innovation Award, co-organised by MUSA, Regione Lombardia and PNICube.

The co-founder and CEO of RarEarth, Enrico Pizzi, commented enthusiastically on the award: ‘We are honoured to have received this prestigious recognition from the Eni Award. Our project aims to solve one of the most critical challenges in the raw materials sector: the recycling of rare earths, which are crucial for the energy transition. Through this work, we want to make Europe more autonomous in the supply of natural resources, reducing dependence on imports and promoting sustainability.’

The Eni Awards, established to promote scientific research and technological innovation, are an international benchmark for commitment to a more sustainable future. The success of RarEarth is a clear example of how entrepreneurial innovation can make a decisive contribution to technological and ecological progress, focusing on a circular economy that makes the most of resources that are fundamental to the economic competitiveness of Europe and our country.
