From research projects to management strategies, a meeting in Milan to explore the impact of tree-associated biodiversity on the quality of urban life
On Monday 11 November 2024, starting at 9 a.m., the conference ‘Biodiversity associated with trees in the urban environment: research, applications and management implications’ will be held at the Conference Room of the Natural History Museum in Corso Venezia, 55 in Milan. This event is aimed at professionals, researchers and enthusiasts in the environmental sector, with the aim of exploring the fundamental role of urban biodiversity and the contribution of trees to the ecological quality of cities.
The day’s programme will open with a presentation of research projects by the University of Milan Bicocca. Speakers will include:
- Prof. Andrea Franzetti “Le piante e il loro microbioma nella degradazione di inquinanti atmosferici: il caso studio di Milano”
- Dott.ssa Claudia Canedoli “Biodiversità associata agli alberi-habitat”
- Dott.ssa Francesca Pittino “Interazioni piante-batteri nella pianificazione del verde urbano,”
- Dott. Gabriele Cerutti “Casi applicativi di fitorimedio in aree agricole contaminate da idrocarburi”
This will be followed, from 11:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., by a round table on ‘Urban Green Management: Evidence-based Perspectives,’ moderated by Prof. Emilio Padoa-Schioppa Professor of Ecology, Milano Bicocca University.

The meeting, which is part of the continuous professional training programme of Agronomists and Foresters, awards 0.312 CFPs according to CONAF Regulation no. 162/2022 and 2.5 training credits for the renewal of ETW and ETT certifications. At the end of the event, it will be possible to visit the exhibition ‘Journey around a tree’. The event is free and open to the public, with compulsory registration at this link.
