An Exceptional Location for a Unique Educational Experience

Registrations are still open for the second edition of the Summer School in Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Entrepreneurial Finance, which will be held from May 12th to 15th, 2024 at Villa del Grumello, on Lake Como. The event is aimed at doctoral students and researchers from disciplines such as economics, management, engineering and other related areas.

The Summer School represents a unique opportunity for participants to develop their research, get in touch with internationally renowned scholars and explore emerging themes in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial finance. The program includes lectures and seminars held by prestigious professors, as well as paper development sessions in which participants can discuss the progress of their research in an interdisciplinary, international and stimulating context.

Particular attention will be paid to aspects related to the sustainability of business models, with interventions by speakers from leading European and American business schools. “The Summer School wants to create a common ground between the four Milanese universities to promote training on common themes such as entrepreneurship”, explains Elisabetta Marafioti, professor of Economics at Bicocca and one of the promoters of the school. “Last year we focused more on the financial aspects of startups, in this new edition we want to work more on the aspects related to the sustainability of business models. The speakers who will participate in the Summer School come from important European and American business schools”.

At the end of the program, a workshop will be held involving companies, offering participants the opportunity to discuss and present their work. “From direct experience we have found that research questions for our PhDs can arise from these round tables. This is therefore a way to bring scientific research closer to the business world”, concludes Professor Marafioti.

The Summer School is organized by the four universities of Milan that are part of the MUSA project: University of Milan-Bicocca, Bocconi University, Polytechnic University of Milan and University of Milan. The suggestive location of Villa del Grumello, one of the most beautiful historic villas overlooking Lake Como, will contribute to making the educational experience even more immersive and intense.

Among the confirmed speakers we point out:
Bruno Cassiman, IESE Business School and KU Leuven
Vera Rocha, Copenhagen Business School
Karin Hoisl, University of Mannheim and Copenhagen Business School
Gary Dushnitsky, London Business School
