Davide Alberti, Head of Research and Development at A2A, shares the company’s commitment to the MUSA project and the central role of research in building the smart cities of tomorrow.
On the occasion of the event “Research and Development for the City of the Future”, organized by MUSA in collaboration with Assolombarda and A2A, we spoke with Davide Alberti, Head of Research and Development at A2A. The company, long committed to sustainable innovation, plays a leading role in the urban transformation process toward smarter, more efficient, and people-centered models.
“A2A, by its very nature and mission, firmly believes in the development of smart cities” Alberti explained. “That’s why we have established a new internal unit dedicated exclusively to Research and Development. We are convinced that only through research and the development of future technologies can we meaningfully contribute to the emergence and growth of smart cities.”
Speaking about the importance of the event, Alberti emphasized: “In this light, I truly believed in today’s meeting, which brings together different experiences in the R&D field within the MUSA project. MUSA is a highly valuable initiative because it succeeds in bringing together diverse expertise under a shared vision. A2A believed in this project from the beginning, participating as a founding member and actively contributing to the development of projects—especially within Spoke 4 Tech.”
On the relationship between technology and people, Alberti added: “Technological development often fails to adequately listen to people’s real needs. Our goal is to shorten and speed up the path that connects innovation and human needs, making it more direct and effective.” Finally, looking to the future: “MUSA has been—and still is—a project of great significance, but it is set to conclude in the early months of 2026. To build on what has been sown—and partially already harvested—it is essential to start thinking today about a new future for MUSA. A future that can give continuity and momentum to everything we have built so far.”
