EFESO is one of the winning projects from StartCup Lombardia 2024 in the Deep Tech sector, representing one of Italy’s most promising ventures in ultra-efficient electronics. At the core of their mission is the goal to overcome the limitations of traditional transistors and pave the way for smaller, more powerful, and extremely low-power electronic devices.
EFESO’s technology is based on advanced materials capable of integrating key properties within a single semiconductor. The result is a new generation of chips that can deliver significantly higher energy efficiency compared to previous products, with the crucial advantage of full compatibility with current silicon technologies.
Federico Fagiani, one of EFESO’s founders, shares the project’s evolution: “We’ve grown a lot, both as a team and technologically. After winning StartCup Lombardia, we secured new funding that allowed us to hire full-time staff and purchase machinery. Our technology is very deep tech, and the progress is evident.”
Among the milestones achieved in the past year are the victory at PNI Cube – the National Innovation Award – and a new project born from the collaboration between the engineering field and Bocconi University, which has brought in a new dedicated resource. For the future, Fagiani continues, “We want to establish, grow technologically, and achieve significant fundraising. The more resources we have, the more we can innovate.” EFESO is just at the beginning of a journey that could mark a turning point for the entire electronics sector.
2024 also brought EFESO increasing visibility, with access to new programs and calls for proposals. The next major event will be Expo Osaka 2025, where the startup will present its vision for sustainable electronics.
