On September 8, 2025, an open meeting for students, scholars, and businesses will be held to discuss the role of human rights in the social sustainability of organizations. Registration is required by September 5.

The protection of human rights is now a central challenge for companies committed to sustainability. It’s no longer just an ethical issue, but a factor that’s integrated into sustainability reports, decision-making processes, and social responsibility strategies. So, how far has the integration of these principles progressed in Europe? This is the question that the next Human Hall event aims to answer. Human Hall is the University of Milan’s platform dedicated to promoting sustainability through research, training, and networking.

The meeting, titled “Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Europe,” will take place on September 8, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Sala Lauree, Via Conservatorio 7, Milan. It will be a discussion among academics, international institutions, researchers, and students, with the goal of analyzing sustainability reports published in Europe, discussing different practices, and spreading virtuous models.

Following institutional greetings from the Rector, Marina Brambilla, Marilisa D’Amico, Human Hall Spoke Leader and Professor of Constitutional Law, will speak. This will be followed by a significant international address from Michael O’Flaherty, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe.

The roundtable, moderated by Bruno Nascimbene, Professor Emeritus of European Union Law, will feature:

  • Alessia Di Pascale, Professor of European Union Law
  • Chiara Ragni, Professor of International Law
  • Monica Massari, Professor of Sociology of Migration

Contributions are also expected from Daniele Mandrioli, Human Hall researcher, and students from the Migration Studies course.

Participation is free, with mandatory registration by September 5, 2025, via the form. For more information, you can write to humanhall@unimi.it.
