Every year in November, Berlin transforms into an open-air laboratory of ideas, debates, and experiments: it’s the Berlin Science Week, one of Europe’s most important science festivals. Over 300 events enliven the city, with two central hubs and numerous distributed locations, where science meets society to tell how research shapes our present and can inspire the future. The 2025 edition marks a significant milestone: ten years of Berlin Science Week. To celebrate the anniversary, the festival has chosen the theme “Beyond Now”, a look beyond the immediate, in a world where old certainties are wavering and new challenges are emerging. The goal is to explore how science can offer tools, solutions, and visions to face global transformations and build new perspectives for the future.
Among the protagonists of this edition will be MUSA – Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action, the large project that unites Italian universities, research centers, businesses, and institutions to promote sustainable innovation in cities. MUSA’s participation in Berlin Science Week represents a strategic opportunity to share interdisciplinary approaches on topics such as digital well-being, ecological transition, sustainable mobility, and social inclusion, placing cities at the center of global challenges.
MUSA’s presence within such an international context solidifies the project’s role not only as a laboratory for Italian innovation but also as a European and global counterpart. In Berlin, MUSA will bring experiences, practices, and reflections that intersect with the festival’s central questions: how can science and research guide society beyond the urgencies of the present? What new visions can we imagine for the future of our cities and communities?
