At the University of Milan, a meeting on legislative responses and policy strategies to strengthen the involvement of ethnic minorities at the local level

Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, the University of Milan will host the meeting “Enhancing public participation of ethnic minorities at the local level: legislative responses and policy strategies amid persistent challenges,” promoted by Human Hall as part of the MUSA ecosystem. The event will take place in Room 113, via Festa del Perdono 7.

The initiative aims to explore the public participation of ethnic minorities within local communities, analyzing persistent critical issues and potential solutions offered by law, public policy, and institutional experiences. Following the institutional greetings, the proceedings will be opened and concluded by Marilisa D’Amico, Human Hall spoke leader.

The program is divided into two sessions. The first is dedicated to the role of ethnic minorities in contemporary societies marked by social and political divisions, featuring contributions from scholars and researchers from international universities and research centers. The second session offers a comparative debate on local experiences, with a focus on European and urban contexts, and the role of universities, territorial policies, and digital services in fostering inclusive forms of participation.

The meeting is part of the research path of Human Hall and MUSA, aimed at promoting rights, inclusion, and social sustainability, strengthening the dialogue between the academic world, institutions, and local territories.
