Obiettivo Effe, Bicocca Initiative for Female Empowerment Towards a Fairer Future
On November 20th, the project presentation will take place, including focus areas and summer camps.
“Obettivo Effe: Empowering Women for a Fairer Future” is a project initiated in May 2023 by a group of professors from the Department of Economics and Business Law for the Economy at the University of Milano-Bicocca. This multidisciplinary and multi-year research and training project is dedicated to female empowerment in Italy.
The details and guidelines of Obettivo Effe, within the inclusive and social themes of MUSA, will be presented at the Rodolfi Hall of the University of Milano-Bicocca on November 20th during a conference promoted by the Di.SEA.DE and CUG in collaboration with other organizations. In addition to the Magnificent Rector Giovanna Iannantuoni, Paola Bongini, Elisabetta Camussi, Edoardo Lozza, Gianna Martinengo, Claudia Parzani, Lucia Visconti Parisio, Emanuela E. Rinaldi, Patrizia Steca, and other distinguished speakers will participate.
The conference’s title, ‘Female Empowerment in a Changing Economic World,’ is emblematic and aims to narrate the foundational elements of the project, which is based on three pillars. The first pillar is research, which is conducted annually among young people – adolescents, university students, and young workers – regarding their financial skills, career aspirations, work expectations, and related topics. The research focus changes each year with specific modifications. In 2023, the research revolves around attitudes towards entrepreneurial careers and financial skills.
The second pillar of Obettivo Effe is the Summer Camp, a summer educational program on finance and entrepreneurship for girls that will take place in June each year. The pilot edition will be held at the University of Milan-Bicocca in June 2024. It is a unique educational program in Italy that combines theoretical lessons with testimonials from entrepreneurs about their careers, case studies, games, and practical exercises. The methodological approach involves co-design between female entrepreneurs, teachers, and students. “Effe” refers to both the summer camp project (Empowering Women for a Fairer Future) and the financial education necessary for a fairer future.
The summer camp will be exclusively for girls aged 16-17, who will participate free of charge in 6 days of training at the central campus of the University of Milan-Bicocca. In the first year, it is expected to involve a maximum of sixty students, with the number expanding in subsequent years. Participation in the summer camp will be completely free for girls and will be funded by project sponsors.
The selection of female students will be based on a procedure that includes the completion of a short online form similar to a curriculum vitae on the university’s website, a motivation letter from the young person, and a reference letter written by an adult who supports her candidacy (such as teachers, educators, coaches, entrepreneurs, or parents).
The third pillar of the project, not of lesser importance, includes two informative conferences open to the public, which will take place annually in the fall and spring, respectively. The next event is on November 20th during the conference. The second event, from June 10th to 15th, 2024, will coincide with the implementation of the summer camp at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
For companies that choose to sponsor and finance the summer camp, they will have the opportunity to enhance their image in national and regional institutional communication through integrated and coordinated communication actions with the University of Milano-Bicocca, as well as through activities conveyed through their own communication channels (offline and online, such as social media or the website) that highlight the organization’s commitment to supporting the education of new generations, combating gender discrimination, and promoting gender equality.
In a historical moment when interest in companies is shifting not only towards their profit but also towards their social impact, from various stakeholders, supporting the Obettivo Effe project constitutes a fundamental tool to enhance one’s brand reputation.
