On the 20th and 21st of march, an event will be held to explore how research and innovation can transform the cities of the future into more sustainable and technologically advanced ecosystems with the contribution of Spoke 3 of MUSA.

On March 20th and 21st, at the Assolombarda headquarters in Milan, in via Pantano 9, the event “MUSA, Research and Development for the City of the Future” will be held, an initiative promoted by Spoke 3 of MUSA, dedicated to deep tech entrepreneurship and the transformation of advanced research into concrete products and businesses. To learn more about the meaning and objectives of the event, we interviewed Professor Andrea Sianesi, Scientific Director of Spoke 3 and professor at the Politecnico di Milano.

Professor Sianesi, what is the main objective of the event?
“The event on March 20th and 21st is part of the sustainability strand within MUSA, with a specific focus on Spoke 3, which deals with entrepreneurship and deep tech. The goal is to follow the path from idea to business, supporting those research projects that are already in an advanced stage in their transformation into concrete products and companies capable of developing and marketing them.”

What will be the central themes of the two days?
“We want to take stock of the research activities developed in Spoke 3, with the Politecnico di Milano as the driving force, but also involving the other Milanese universities of MUSA and leading industrial partners. A2A, in particular, is the main partner and inspirer of the event. It will not only be a moment of dissemination, but also an opportunity for discussion with external stakeholders to discuss innovation and entrepreneurship applied to the city of the future in a sustainable way.”

Can you give us some details on the program?
“We have chosen a two-day formula to better explore the topics covered. The first day includes institutional greetings, followed by a round table on the topic ‘The City of the Future’, with professor Carlo Ratti, who will take stock of the issue. In the afternoon, four technical tables will be held focusing on circular economy and energy transition, sustainable mobility, urban regeneration and space economy. On March 21st, instead, we will have a round table dedicated to innovation in Smart Cities, with a significant contribution from Milano Smart City Alliance. Furthermore, we will present some projects developed within MUSA through a series of pitches.”
