The Milan event to rethink urban spaces in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Future Center

On March 20th, Piazza della Scienza will transform into a laboratory of ideas, where university research will meet city life. The “Mettiamoci in Piazza” event, promoted by MUSA and the National Biodiversity Future Center as part of “Università Svelate” – an initiative by CRUI with the support of ANCI – aims to demonstrate the concrete impact of research on urban regeneration, environmental sustainability, and social well-being. The University of Milano-Bicocca will open the doors of its research to the community, involving students, researchers, and citizens in a dialogue on the future of cities.

Mettiamoci in Piazza” will offer the opportunity to observe firsthand the contribution of universities in creating more sustainable urban environments. The piazza itself, undergoing transformation into a multifunctional green area, will be a concrete example of urban regeneration. Through meetings with experts, the public will discover how scientific research translates into practical solutions to improve the quality of life in urban centers.

The event represents an opportunity to approach the world of university research and understand how cities can evolve towards more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative models. “Mettiamoci in Piazza” marks a step forward in urban transformation guided by knowledge and collaboration, thanks to the contribution of MUSA, NBFC, and the research teams Spoke 1, Spoke 2, and Spoke 6.

The initiative is part of the National University Day, “Università Svelate,” which every year on March 20th opens the doors of Italian universities to the public. The 2025 edition will be dedicated to the relationship between universities and cities, highlighting the role of university cities as engines of innovation and sustainable development. “Università Svelate” will offer an opportunity for discussion between institutions, students, and citizens on topics such as environmental sustainability, technological innovation, and social cohesion.

The appointment is therefore for Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In case of bad weather, the event will be held on level -1 of the piazza. At 12:00 PM, the Magnificent Rector, Prof. Giovanna Iannantuoni, will officially inaugurate National University Day. The public will be able to interact with academic staff at the information stands and participate in interactive activities. Admission is free and does not require reservation.
