Following the announcement of participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, the detailed program of the initiative “4UniverCity Futures – The City of the Future: Designing and Transforming University Neighborhoods” is now available, also in English and Japanese.
The event, scheduled for Friday 30 and Saturday 31 May 2025 at the Auditorium of the Italy Pavilion, aims to explore the strategic role of university neighborhoods in urban regeneration processes, with a particular focus on Milan – a cutting-edge hub for sustainability and innovation.
The Program: Two Days of Urban Visions, Best Practices, and International Collaboration
On May 30, proceedings will open with institutional greetings and a keynote speech offering a global perspective on future trends of university cities. The day will continue with roundtable discussions featuring prominent figures from academia, business, and institutions – including the University of Milan, Bocconi University, University of Milano-Bicocca, and Politecnico di Milano – in dialogue with representatives from Japanese and other Asian universities.
On May 31, the morning will be dedicated to a participatory workshop for the co-design of multilevel actions within university urban contexts. The session will feature real-world experiences and operational tools already in use across Milanese campuses. The event will conclude with a plenary session focused on opportunities for collaboration between Europe and Asia in the field of urban sustainability.
To foster intercultural dialogue, the full program is now available in English and Japanese, making the initiative’s content accessible to an international audience of experts, stakeholders, and citizens.
