On October 13th in Milan, Deloitte and the MUSA ecosystem will present a study on researchers' skills and labor market demands, with the aim of building bridges between research and business.
How can we enhance the human capital in research and align it with the needs of the job market? Deloitte Officine Innovazione, in collaboration with the universities of the MUSA ecosystem, seeks to answer this question with an initiative that will culminate in the event “Valuing Research Human Capital: Synergies for the Future,” scheduled for Monday, October 13, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at the Deloitte headquarters at Via Santa Sofia 28, Milan.
Study Presentation and Key Findings
At the core of the meeting is the presentation of an unprecedented study on the potential of researchers involved in MUSA, a flagship project in the landscape of Lombard innovation. The survey offers a detailed snapshot of the profiles of researchers, research fellows, and PhD students in Italy, analyzing their skills, career paths, and projects developed, particularly within the Milanese academic and productive contexts.
The research adopted an integrated approach, including a survey addressed to key research figures to gather data on their experiences, aptitudes, and developed skills. Concurrently, the private sector’s employment needs were mapped, with a focus on the Lombard market, to identify the most sought-after skills and employment or entrepreneurial opportunities for highly qualified profiles.
The result is a cross-analysis between the supply of skills from the academic world and the demand expressed by businesses, useful for outlining shared strategies for knowledge transfer and the enhancement of research human resources.
Roundtables and Networking
The event will also be a moment for discussion among academia, businesses, and institutions, through two dedicated roundtables: the first on the challenges and opportunities of higher education for companies; the second on the role of synergies between different actors in valuing research and its impact.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a networking Exploration Hub will offer space for informal discussions and new connections.
