Professor Mariachiara Tallacchini’s Lectio Magistralis, entitled “Scienza e Potere” is an opportunity to explore the current dynamics of environmental law.

Professor Tallacchini, an expert on the interaction between science and law at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, will explore the link between science and environmental policies and their impact on society and the legal system.

The event, coordinated by Dr Giada Ragone of the University of Milan, is organised within the framework of the PNRR project MUSA (Spoke 1, Urban regeneration) in collaboration with the PRIN PNRR 2022 project “COP – SCIPO”.

During the lectio magistralis, the new volume entitled “Explorations in Environmental Law” (Editoriale Scientifica, 2024), edited by Professor Sara Valaguzza of the University of Milan, will also be presented. Professor Valaguzza is an expert in administrative law, public and private contracts, public companies, sustainable development strategies and territorial promotion.

The book ‘Explorations in Environmental Law’ offers insights into different areas of environmental law, including the protection of water, air, soil, biodiversity, flora and fauna, as well as climate and energy. Through a thematic survey, the book proposes new interpretations of the legal framework and the relationship between community and nature, also collecting the first results of the research carried out by the University of Milan in the context of the PNRR MUSA project.

The event is aimed at students, academics, professionals and citizens interested in learning more about the contemporary challenges linking science and environmental protection. The Lectiosi will be held on 17 April 2024 at 9.30 a.m. in the prestigious Sala Napoleonica located in via Sant’Antonio, 12 at the University of Milan
